Applies to:

Oracle Fabric Interconnect F1-15 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Oracle Fabric Interconnect F1-4 - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

"allowed VLAN range" on "access-mode" vnics is not working.

Changes

Created "access-mode" vnics and configuring them with "allowed VLAN range".

Cause

An XgOS software problem caused the "allowed VLAN range" to be configurable on "access-mode" vnics.  The XgOS does not prevent this misconfiguration.

Solution

Notes for using the allowed VLAN range setting for vNICs

The allowed VLAN range feature is supported on a trunk-mode vNIC or I/O port that is to specify the VLANs that are valid on that vNIC or port. This feature is not applicable to access-mode VLANs. However, a software problem causes the allowed VLAN range feature to be configurable on access-mode VLANs. The XgOS does not prevent this misconfiguration.

When configuring the allowed VLAN range feature, make sure to do so only on trunk-mode vNICs or ports.
