Symptoms

Network 10Gigabit Ethernet Switch 72p may over heat after replacing Fan.

Cause

* In October 2012, the previous supplier of the high efficiency fan
used on the Opus TOR assemblies (7054293 and 7055019) indicated
that they were no longer able to meet our demand. Engineering
identified 2 alternate FAN choices and qualified both sources
for the new fan module.
* The airflow of the new fan module is lower than that of the original
fan so the normal fan speed has been increased from 70% to 80%
to keep device temperatures within the enclosure within spec
under worse case loads.

Solution

When any of the 5 fan modules (350-1312-04 or 350-1335-04) are
replaced with a new fan module (7061031 or 7061042), the
system FW must be updated to a minimum version level of 1.2.1.8
(available on MOS) to increase the fan speed.
