Symptoms

Can't configure Switch Port mode as hybrid (tagged and non tagged vlan) with PVST enabled on Network 10Gigabit Ethernet Switch 72p or

24-Port 10-Gigabit Ethernet Switched Network Express Module

Example:

acptrc0307a72p SEFOS(config)# interface extreme-ethernet 0/10
acptrc0307a72p SEFOS(config-if)# switchport pvid 915
acptrc0307a72p SEFOS(config-if)# switchport mode hybrid
% Cannot set Port-Type as Hybrid when PVRST+ is started.

acptrc0307a72p SEFOS# show vlan port config port ex 0/10

Vlan Port configuration table
-------------------------------
Port Ex0/10
Port Vlan ID                        : 915
Port Acceptable Frame Type          : Admit All
Port Ingress Filtering              : Disabled
Port Mode                           : Trunk <-------Can't get this to go to hybrid with PVST enabled

Cause

Hybrid switchport mode is not supported up to and including the the current release TOR-1.2.1.8 at the time of this document.

Solution

With PVRST mode, the port must be either be Access or Trunk.
