Applies to:StorageTek T10000C Tape Drive - Version Not Applicable to Not Applicable [Release N/A]StorageTek T10000C Tape Drive - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases] StorageTek T10000D Tape Drive - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases] Information in this document applies to any platform. SymptomsMVC's (Multi Volume Cartridge) are being put into Broken status due to "ECAM error CC=5 RC=116" Position Errors during a migrate of a partitioned MVC. (ALP/Dynamic Reclaim is on) ChangesAll T10000C and T10000D FICON code versions have the TAA feature available. It is defaulted to off. CauseTAA (Tape Application Acceleration) should be disabled for any RTD (Real Tape Drive). This is especially true if the customer is using the ALP/Dynamic Reclaim feature. This feature will partition the tape. The drive may not return the correct partition information if TAA is turned on. This can cause Position Errors to occur during the migrate which will cause the tape to be put into a broken status. SolutionTurn off the TAA feature for any T10000C and T10000D RTDs at the site. This is turned on or off under the VOP Config>Fiber menu. It is only available in FICON emulation mode.
If you are in a situation where a RTD was running for a period of time with TAA turned on the following is recommended: 1) Take the RTD offline and turn off the TAA feature. Put the drive back online. 2) Check any tapes that were put up on this drive for writes during the time when TAA was turned on. Run inventory on these tapes. If the inventory fails, run Audit against the volume to set the CDS to match the data on the tape. Note: If the inventory runs clean then no further action with that tape is required.
