Symptoms

The cell server generates an alert for flash cards' status "Not Present".

The alert however automatically clears itself after a short time and returns to "Normal" status.

For example: here is a sample output from alert history:

4_1 2012-12-31T17:23:06-05:00 critical "Flash disk removed. Status : NOT PRESENT Manufacturer : MARVELL Model Number : SD88SA02 Size : 23G Serial Number : 1146M0ALJ8 Firmware : D20Y Slot Number : PCI Slot: 1; FDOM: 0 Cell Disk : FD_00_xdhfd6st12 Grid Disk : No grid disks exist Flash Cache : Present Flash Log : Present Error Count : 0 Last Failure : unknown"
4_2 2012-12-31T17:27:26-05:00 clear "Flash disk replaced. Status : NORMAL Manufacturer : MARVELL Model Number : SD88SA02 Size : 23G Serial Number : 1146M0ALJ8 Firmware : D20Y Slot Number : PCI Slot: 1; FDOM: 0 Cell Disk : FD_00_xdhfd6st12 Grid Disk : No grid disks exist Flash Cache : Present Flash Log : Present"

This may happen for multiple flash disks at the same time.

Cause

This is <Bug 13486258>: MULTIPLE ALERTS RELATED TO FLASH CARDS REPORTED FEW SECONDS APART.

This is an erroneous alert which is triggered when the internal check for Flash disks fails or times out.

You are hitting this bug if the flash disks are reported as "NOT PRESENT" and flips back to "NORMAL" status automatically without any user intervention.

Solution

You can ignore this alert.  The bug is fixed in 11.2.3.1.0 cell image or higher.
