Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1505961.1 : SL150 - FC/SAS Ports of the Drives in the SL150 Are Not Enabled and Thus the Drives and Library Are Not Seen From the Host
In this Document
Applies to:StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library - Version All Versions and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform. SymptomsThe Fibre Channel / SAS ports of the drives in the SL150 are not enabled and thus the drives and the library are not seen from the host. ChangesNew install or failed robotics. CauseIf the library does not complete its initialization , it can not go down and verify what drives it has installed and also what and how many expansion modules are installed as well as the drives installed in the expansion modules. If the library is unable to verify those things, then it cannot enable the FC/SAS ports on the drives for the host to see. Since this is a bridged library, if the bridge drive does not have its FC/SAS ports enabled then the host will not be able to see the library. SolutionFind out what is causing the robot to fail its initialization and fix it by the recommended action that is given by the Fault Code or any specific Knowledge Document that may guide you to a fix on known issues. Once the robot is fully initialized, the drive's FC/SAS ports will be enabled and the host will recognize the drives and library. The bridge drive(s) are the last drives to have their ports enabled, so it is possible that all other drives have their ports enabled. This is because we have to be further into the initialization before enabling those ports because when they come online we need to be able to start talking SCSI.
