Symptoms

SL500 is online and connected to the ACSLS server but the SL500 is not detected by the server

'cfgadm -al' is not showing the mchanger device

fcinfo is not showing the attached library

Changes

New ACSLS installation

Cause

Possible problem with the fibre cable or the Fibre HBA port

Solution

Verify if there is a med-changer device detected by cfgadm:

# cfgadm -al
Ap_Id                       Type          Receptacle     Occupant       Condition
c0                          scsi-sata     connected      configured     unknown
c0::dsk/c0t0d0              disk          connected      configured     unknown
c3                          fc            connected      unconfigured   unknown            <<--- known FC device. Expecting to show "c3::/dev/mchangerx  med-changer..."
sata0/0                     sata-port     empty          unconfigured   ok
sata0/1                     sata-port     empty          unconfigured   ok
sata0/2                     sata-port     empty          unconfigured   ok
...

Verify is Fibre HBA is attached and configured:

# fcinfo hba-port
HBA Port WWN: 100000e0c94e0952                      <<<---- FC HBA is attached and configured.
   OS Device Name: /dev/cfg/c3
   ...

# fcinfo remote-port -slp 100000e0c94e0952
Remote Port WWN: 500104f000411932                   <<<---- Indicates the FC device attached to the HBA.  If no output generated,
Active FC4 Types:                                           there is a problem with the connection or the HBA port
   SCSI Target: yes
   Node WWN: 500104f000411846

If the Fibre HBA is known to the OS but no fibre med-changer device is detected on this HBA, do the following:

1.  Check the fibre cable. Reseat the cable, if needed.
2.  Check the HBA LED status. If multiple HBA port, attach the library to a different port
3.  Run 'cfgadm -al' again and verify if a med-changer device has been detected.

If problem persists, refer to this <Document: 1020533.1> ACSLS - Verify FC HBA is Installed and Configured
