Cause

This issue has not been re-created reliably to determine true root cause; but it usually happens after several HW part replacements and/or OBP/ALOM updates.

Solution

First, check that there are no HW faults in the Server. That can be done by checking the SC outputs or collecting an Oracle Explorer for analysis.
If no faults are found and the Service LED is still ON, please do the following:

Run SC command resetsc

Note:

If that does not turn off the Service LED, please proceed with the next steps.
1- Shutdown the Server.
2- Remove all the power cords.
3- Wait for 30 minutes.
4- Re-connect the Power cords.
5- Power up and boot the Server.

This solution is not tested in a lab, and is only tested on the SR listed for this documents creation.   We will keep this as an internal document until tested and referenced in more Service Requests.

Update 10/2/2015 - No additional SRs list this doc as solving SR. Many hits.  Keeping this section Internal for now.

The Service LED should now be off. If it is not, please contact Oracle Support for further assistance on this issue.

It's recommended to check the OBP and ALOM firmware version to be at the most updated version.
- For OBP Firmware patch please refer to Doc ID 1294603.1
- For ALOM patch please refer to Doc ID 1001828.1
