The following message may occasionally be reported to the system log (dmesg, /var/log/messages):

when Infiniband interfaces are not initialised

Cause

The 'RDS: rds_bind() could not find a transport, load rds_tcp or rds_rdma?' message is typically reported when ...

the rds-ping(1) utility is run against a non-Infiniband interface
the rds-ping(1) utility is run against an Infiniband interface that is not fully initialised

Solution

The message is informational only i.e. safe to ignore - it generally occurs as a result of one or more of the following conditions:

OSWatcher Black Box (per <Note:301137.1>) whose oswrds.sh script runs rds-ping(1) is installed and running on the system
The rds-ping(1) utility is run against a non-Infiniband interface e.g. eth0
The rds-ping(1) utility is run against an Infiniband interface that is not fully initialised
