Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1501042.1 : NM2-GW listlinkup output shows Bridge-0 Port 0A-ETH-1 (Bridge-0-2) down (Enabled) on a port that was previously working
In this Document
Created from <SR 3-6308393583> Applies to:Sun Network QDR InfiniBand Gateway Switch - Version Not Applicable to Not Applicable [Release N/A]Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud X2-2 Hardware - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases] Information in this document applies to any platform. SymptomsIn this example 0A-ETH-1 was previously working and listlinkup output shows 0A-ETH-1 down and enabled. NM2-GW# listlinkup |grep down Connector 0A-ETH Present *note: There are 8 ports and 2 1x4 splitter cables so the portrange is: 0A-ETH-1, 0A-ETH-2, 0A-ETH-3, 0A-ETH-4 (plugged into physical port 0A on NM2-GW switch) 1A-ETH-1. 1A-ETH-2, 1A-ETH-3, 1A-ETH-4 (plugged into physical port 1A on NM2-GW switch)
Physical components: NM2-GW--port:0A==qsfp+-----1X4 splitter cable----(1)---SFP+==Client switch
CauseThe above NM2-GW switch listlinkup output indicates a physical layer (cable, switchport, qsfp+,sfp+) problem on 0A-ETH-1. Possible causes include defective NM2-GW switchport, qsfp+ (transeiver), quad splitter cable or Customer uplink switchport or sfp+(transiever) or uplink Client switch port was put into the "shut" state. SolutionIsolate the problem by swapping the suspected components with known working components. Start with the components that are th easiest to acces Example: 1) Replace qsfp+ with known good qsfp+ and check listlinkup and LED status. If the Link comes UP, then the problem was a defective or poorly seated qsfp+ transiever 2) If no change, put original qsfp+ back and replace sfp+ on the client switch and check listlinkup and LED status. If the Link comes UP, then the problem was a defective sfp+ transeiver *note that the sfp+ is provided by the Customer. 3) If no change, put original sfp+ back and move sfp+ and cable end to a known working port on the client switch and check listlinkup and LED status. If the Link comes UP, then the problem was a defective or misconfigured client switch port. 4) If no change, move sfp+ and cable end back to original client switch port. Move the qsfp+ and cable end to a known working NM2-GW port and check listlinkup and LED status. If the Link comes UP, then the NM2-GW switch port is likely defective. 5) If no change, move the qsfp+ and cable end back to the original port. Move sfp+ to one of the other cables at the end of the splitter cable and check listlinkup and LED status. If the link comes UP, then the cable is defective.
