 Customer was using SL500 only with Full Base license (66 slots) and now installed Full DEM License (143 slots)

 They have license for only 128 slots from Networker can not use SL500 anymore and requesting to limit the active cells to 128 from SL500.

Changes

 Installed DEM into library.

Cause

 Insufficent slot Licenses from Networker to match SL500 activated slot count.

Solution

It is not possible to control SL500 slot count precisely to 128 to match Networker license. Ideally Customers have below options:

- Get matching or higher slot license in networker. (to match SL500 license capacity).
OR
- Purchase partition license for SL500 and manage the required slot count to match networker license.

However in case of DEMs, Customer can chose to uninstall the 1/3 DEM licenses to reduce activated slot count.
Remaining purchased 1/3 DEM license can be utilized when Customer buys sufficient licenses for backup application.

For example in this SR, Customer decided to go with 2/3 DEM license which gives them 118 active slots presented to host. See the details below :

SL500 has 2 modules (Base + DEM) with 3 drives installed.  Current Slot Capacity is 143.

Note that the "FULL DEM" License is not intended to be used with Oracle SL500. This must be uninstalled.

Customer can download licenses from E-Delivery Site depending upon purchased capacity. ( https://edelivery.oracle.com/ )
Possible Slot Capacities for LTO SL500 with 1/3 DEM licenses are :

Full Base + 1x 1/3 DEM = 66+26     = 92
Full Base + 2x 1/3 DEM = 66+26+26 = 118
Full Base + 3x 1/3 DEM = 66+26+26+25    = 143

Note:

The customer can acquire the Partioning feature and be able to set up specific cell configuration as needed.
