Cause

The cause of the above errors in this situation was that the EMC storage was not configured correctly for attachment to a Solaris Server.

There are flags that need to be set on the EMC storage front end adapters to allow it to communicate properly with the server.

If you see the above messages in the messages file on paths going to EMC storage, direct the customer to contact EMC to verify that the storage is configured correctly for attachment to a Solaris server.

Have the customer/EMC reference the following  documents from the EMC Powerlink knowledge base:

emc242254 - "Solaris and Symmetrix VMAX: Sense Key: Unit Attention ASC: 0x3f (reported LUNs data has changed) and ASC: 0x29 (i_t nexus loss occurred), ASCQ: 0x7, FRU: 0x0 entries logged."

emc171432 - "Solaris host reports errors: ASC: 0x3f (reported LUNs data has changed)"

Solution

Have the customer contact EMC to verify that the correct bits are set on the EMC front end adapters to allow proper connectivity with a solaris server.
