Created from <SR 3-6123606228>

Applies to:

Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 4.5 and later
Exalogic Elastic Cloud X4-2 Hardware - Version X4 to X4 [Release X4]
Linux x86
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

The "dmesg" buffer reports PCIe error messages:

pcieport 0000:00:07.0: AER: Corrected error received: id=0038
pcieport 0000:00:07.0: PCIe Bus Error: severity=Corrected, type=Physical Layer, id=0038(Receiver ID)

Cause

The messages are reporting AER ("Advanced Error Reporting") correctable hardware events.

Solution

1. Contact hardware vendor to check the AER hardware event meaning and impact

2. If PCIe AER is not required it can be suppressed by adding kernel parameter "pci=noaer" to the /etc/grub.conf entry, e.g.:

 kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-274.el5 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb quiet pci=noaer
