Symptoms


While using Sun Storage Common Array Manager (CAM) 6.9 to upgrade the firmware on drive model "HUS1561FCSUN600G" from E5C4 to E6C0, CAM returns the following error:


Incompatible firmware image. Skipping Tray.X Slot.Z


 


Note: This problem has no functional impact to the drive and array.


 


Cause


Every drive firmware file bundled with CAM has a header including an "upgrade path". The "upgrade path" enables CAM to determine if the firmware currently installed on the drive can be upgraded to the target level.
 Unfortunately the firmware file bundled with the initial release of CAM 6.9 for drive model "HUS1561FCSUN600G" does not include the firmware E5C4 in this "upgrade path". It has been corrected with patches for CAM 6.9.


Note: This issue only applies to the StorageTek 6140, 6180 and 6540 Arrays with drive model "HUS1561FCSUN600G" running firmware E5C4 and with CAM 6.9 without patches 147660-05 (Solaris), 147661-04 (Windows), 147662-04 (Linux).
