Database Appliance Install hanging on startx command SymptomsDuring initial install of the ODA (Oracle Database Appliance) the 'startx' command hangs. Causexinitrc will not start X at run-level 3 on ODA SolutionTo check run level enter command 'who -r' It will return output similar to: run-level 3 2012-06-04 11:22 last=3 Run 'init 5' and move server to run-level 5 to allow X to start Once at run-level 5, 'startx' will run successfully.
NOTE: The server will NOT reboot when the 'init 5' command is run. It will move the server to run-level 5 for the install. Any subsequent reboot will return the server to the default run-level of 3.
