Symptoms

3D50 Temp Errors seen in SPLAT tool or in the event logs.
FSC3D50

Changes

None.

Cause

3D50 temps are informational events that get logged indicating a degraded condition in the drive.

Solution

3D50 Temp errors indicate a degraded condition in read/write system of the drive. They can cause the drive to request cleaning.  If enough of them occur on a single mount, they can cause the drive to put the tape in "Read Only" status for the remainder of the mount.

These types of errors may be seen in the event logs. The events by themselves do not indicate a need for drive replacement. If the drive is not at T10000A/B code version Rj46.x09 or higher (released code 1.48.x05 is preferred), there could be many of these failures which could cause excessive cleaning of the drive..
