Symptoms

Oracle Database Appliance or Big Database Appliance alerts are generated when a data disk fails.

Cause

The physical drive has failed.

Solution

A physical disk outage can cause a reduction in performance and data redundancy. Therefore, the disk should be replaced with a new disk as soon as possible.

To replace a disk due to disk failure, perform the following procedure:

Replace the physical disk on Database Appliance. The physical disk is hot-pluggable, and can be replaced when the power is on.

Appliance Manager will automatically add the disk to the appropriate Oracle ASM disk group and the data will be rebalanced on them.

.

For Support INTERNAL 2.1.0.1 /2.1.0.2

There is a Firmware bug that can cause multiple disks show as missing after a single-disk failure see:

Refer to:
ODA (Oracle Database Appliance ) showing different disks disappear randomly after a reboot (Doc ID 1420126.1)
