Sun StorageTek T10000A Tape Drive - Version Not Applicable and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Tapes are shown as expired due to the meter count on the tape.
Tape media exceeding usage meter count.
Tape alert 0x07
Tape alert 07

Changes

For the T10000 family the pass count (meters across the head) is used as a criteria for tape expiration.

Cause

Pass count and load counts are both criteria for expiration.

Solution

Both pass count and load count are used as criteria for tape expiration.

If you see tape alert 0x07 coming back from the drive or if VTCS has the Warranty flag set for an MVC the tape is expired. If the load count does not match the expiration numbers then the tape is expired due to the pass count.

T10000A tapes expire at 16,000 loads or the equivalent of 525 Full File Passes.

T10000B expires at 16,000 loads or or the equivalent of 450 Full File Passes.

T10000C media expires at 30,000 loads or or the equivalent of 300 Full File Passes.
