A firmware mismatch error is generated when replacing an XSCFU board that has a different firmware version than the original.

Symptoms

The following error message is generated during XSCF login:

XCP version of Panel EEPROM and XSCF FMEM mismatched,

        Panel EEPROM=1061, XSCF FMEM=1092

Note: revisions in the previous output are an example and will vary.

Cause

This problem may be experienced in different scenarios:

• when a defective XSCFU is replaced with one that has a different version of FW from the version installed on the Panel (OPNL)
• when a defective OPNL is replaced with one that has a different version of FW from the version installed on the XSCFU
• following a FW upgrade that had some problem

Solution

Re-flash the XCP FW to synchronize the versions between the panel EEPROM and the XSCFU FMEM.
     Instructions for upgrading (i.e., flashing) the XCP FW can be found in the XSCF Users Guide. 
     Links to current FW can be found in Document 1002631.1

     Be aware that updating from versions below 1061 to a version higher than 1061
     requires an interim update to 1061 first.

The following additional solution applies only for M8000/M9000 systems (i.e., those servers with dual redundant XSCFU)
If an XSCFU is cold-replaced (i.e., with server AC power removed) the new board's firmware will not be updated as happens automatically during 'replacefru'.
Use the below commands to syncronize the firmware and then confirm the XSCFU FMEM matches.

1.  Use the flashupdate command to sync the panel EEPROM and the XSCFU FMEM versions.

      XSCF> flashupdate -c sync

2. Confirm that the version is corrected.
   
      XSCF>  version -c xscf
