Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1357046.1 : Netra X4270 Disk Physical Slot Number is reported differently by Bios, Sas2ircu and Megaraid Manager
Created from <SR 3-4304730931> Applies to:Sun Netra X4270 Server - Version Not Applicable and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform. SymptomsThe physical disk slot numbers on Netra X4270 systems is reported differently by BIOS, sas2ircu and MegaRAID Manager. Test with HBA RAID card SGX-SAS6-R-INT and SGX-SAS6-INT
physical disk slots | 0 | 1 |
MegaRAID: -------------------------------------
slot# shown by MegaRaid | 4 | 5 |
Manager,sas2ircu,LSI BIOS: -------------------------------------
slot# shown by raidconfig | 0 | 1 |
-------------------------------------
physical disk slot | 0 | 1 | 2 | 3 |
MegaRAID: ---------------------------------------------
slot# shown by MegaRaid | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 |
Manager,sas2ircu,LSI BIOS: ---------------------------------------------
slot# shown by raidconfig | 0 | 1 | 2 | 3 |
---------------------------------------------
CauseThis is because the way the HBA connects into the slot. There are two ports on the HBA to where the cables are attached, for example Ports 0-3 and 4-7.
Ports 0-3 on the HBA is connected to the external port interface and Ports 4-7 is connected to the disk backplane with the LSI SAS2 cards.
Whereas in SAS1 card it is opposite (as marked on the Netra X4270 riser board).
This is because the SAS2 HBA ports are opposite from the SAS1 card.
The external SAS cable connector does not allow them to be swapped over.
SolutionN/A - This document details expected behaviour. RFE <BUG: 15740080> has been raised to have this documented Attachments This solution has no attachment |
