While at the ILOM prompt, the operating system console via 'start /SP/console' command is unavailable.

Normal operating system output is not visible.

Cause

Solaris console output device is not correctly set during or after install.

Solution

Login to the Solaris operating system via a network connection to the main Solaris host.

Change the following eeprom setting whilst logged in as root:

# eeprom console=ttya


After a reboot, the operating console is accessible with a 'start /SP/console' command from the ILOM prompt.
