Symptoms

Node did not come after recycle. checking the status through ILOM remote console,it was stuck with below message.

Foreign configuration(s) found on adapter
Press any key to continue or 'C' load the configuration utility,
or 'F' to import foreign configuration(s) and continue.

There are offline or missing virtual drives with preserved cache.
Please check the cables and ensure that all drives are present.
Press any key to enter the configuration utility.

 

Cause

When a controller firmware detects a physical disk with existing foreign metadata, it flags the physical disk as foreign and generates an alert indicating that a foreign disk was detected.

It could be due one of the disk failed.

Solution

Press 'C' at "Foreign configuration(s) found on adapter" screen.

This will load the configuration wizard and will show three options

i) All configuration
ii) Configuration #1
iii) Configuration #2

Choose first ie All configuration and import.

Now perform the reboot,it will bootup the machine and identify the failed disk and replace it.
