Additional FSCs that you may see associated with this problem:
505C FSC505C
5E04 FSC5E04
5B3B FSC5B3B
5B0B FSC5B0B
5B3A FSC5B3A
Cause
Adhesive comes loose on the flex cable assembly.
If experiencing FSCs 5BAA or 5B9A and the tape fails to come ready, the drive may be experiencing a problem where the adhesive used on the T1000A and T10000B Elevator Sensor Assembly came loose.
This will cause a failure of the elevator flag and the tape will not come ready. The drive will post one of the above mentioned FSCs if viewed from VOP. If you remove the top cover off of the drive and look at the location in the attached picture very carefully, you might be able to see this phenomenon.
Solution
An SR must be opened up via MOS and directed to Tape Hardware Support.
Provide a shipping address and contact for shipment of the clip.
Provide quantity requested.
Install plastic clip on the flex cable assy.

Notes:
-These clips should only be ordered when the error occurs, not to populate the whole shop.
-This is a rare occurrence and should be treated as such.
Details of fix:
There is a fix going into manufacturing and repair to add a clip to this area which will prevent any adhesive failures. This corrective action cut into the repair vender's process in Jan 2011. A sample photo of this clip is also attached.
* Attached picture 316073601_clip_005.jpg shows the clip fully installed
* Attached picture 316073601_clip_002.jpg shows the clip hanging at the edge so that it is more
apparent.
* This sensor is located right between the loader mechanism and the machine reel.
* If you look from the side, most of the failures exhibit the flex assembly slightly raised from the black plastic housing.
* If you continue to view this location from the side and very gently press down on the top of the plastic as indicated by the arrow in the picture (FlexSensor.jpg), and the plastic moves downward, then this is probably what is causing the problem.
* After you press down, the adhesive will probably temporarily retain the flex assembly to the black plastic housing. The drive may work normally, but may fail again in the future (unknown time-frame).
