Symptoms

Display VTSS command shows the VTSS is Online-p
Query VTSS shows online pending (Online-p) when displaying from one or most hosts. Other hosts may show the VTSS is Online.
VT QU VTSS shows n/a for Capacity, DBU and VTV Count. State shows Online-p
VT QU VTSS shows state is Online-p
VTCS fully initializes before HSC comes up to FULL service level

Message "SLS6654I VTCS Main Task Waiting for work" appears in log before "SLS1505I HSC service level FULL initialization complete"

Cause

Possible DAC (data assurance check) on the VTSS

Solution

Use the following steps:
1. Ask Sun StorageTek VTSS support to remotely dial in to the VTSS to verify there is no DAC condition on the VTSS box. For further information on the DAC condition see 1016471.1
2. If no DAC conditions exist, vary all of the VTDs offline to MVS, and vary the VTSS offline from the host that is showing the online-pending condition.
3. Vary the VTSS online and vary the VTDs online.
4. Run the AUDIT VTSS utility for the affected VTSS.
