Symptoms
Link fails to establish when connecting the SUN system ce, ge and similar gigabit cards to the N2000 gigabit ports

Resolution
The reason for this is that SUN defaults to autonegotiation and the N2000 defaults to 1000M full duplex forced.
There are several ways to correct this parameter mismatch with the
prefered method being autonegotiation on both the N2000 switch and
the SUN system.
1) Change the default settings on the N2000 switch from 1000M
full duplex forced to autonegotiation. (prefered method)
Using the N2000 GUI interface:
a) select port list
b) check the boxes that are next to gigEthernet
c) click modify
d) change the default 1000M to auto
e) click submit
f) attempt to establish link
g) if link is now established, click SaveCfg
Using the N2000 CLI interface:
a) Enter enable mode
sun.250> enable
b) Enter configure mode
sun.250# configure
c) Configure the port for auto negotiate
sun.250(config)# port ifName eth.1.1 phySpeed auto
d) Save the configuration
sun.250(config)# saveCfg
2) Change the default on the SUN server side from autonegotiation
to 1000M full duplex forced so that this will now match the
settings on the N2000.
Operational mode parameters on Sun Solaris can be changed via ndd -set /dev/ce or editing ce.conf, see troubleshooting in Infodoc 41665 and Infodoc 72033 for details
Note:
In accordance with IEEE 802.3 Sun recommends to use autonegotiated operational modes. This is the default.
