Symptoms

Library will not clean LTO Gen-2 drives with LTO Universal labels
Cleaning cartridge will not load into drive

Cause

Wrong Volser labels being used.

Solution

Make sure the Cleaning cartridge labels are certified for STK libraries. These labels will be marked with CLNxxx Cx.
C1 = HP
C2 = IBM
C3 = Certance/Seagate
CU = Universal

If you do not have the correct labels, order the cleaning label through normal channels.

Additional Information
The cause can be due to non-certified STK Cleaning Label. IBM libraries use a cleaning cartridge marked as: CLNxxx Lx. The 7th character marked Lx in a STK library is recognized as a data cartridge. The cleaning cartridge with the Lx extension would load normally into the STK library but will never get used due to the incorrect labeling.

The Universal cleaning cartridge can be used with library code 3.01 and above.
