Applies to:

Sun StorageTek Host Software Component (HSC) - Version 6.1 and later
Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System - Version Not Applicable and later
IBM z/OS on System z

Symptoms

SLS0660I error messages received every 5 minutes.

SLS0660I ERR BCST - (01400114005C04)
SLS0662I LMU Response error - xx,xxx,28,13

Cause

The 28,13 on the SLS0662I indicates Invalid Broadcast and Invalid LSM respectively.  For the 'C04' at the end of the SLS0660I message, the 'C' indicates Open Door and the '04' is the LSM ID.  This means HSC is receiving a broadcast from the LSM ID but HSC has no knowledge of an LSM with that number.  The SLS0660I can be issued more than once with a different number at the end of the string to indicate a different LSM ID.

Solution

This problem needs to be investigated by the Oracle Field Service Engineer (FSE) from the hardware perspective.  It is the hardware sending these broadcasts to HSC.

For example, if there were two SL8500s connected but one was removed, verify that all cables and PTPs between the two SL8500s are disconnected.   The problem may also be a config file in the SL8500 that needs to be cleared.  Please open an SR using the serial number of the library so that hardware support can assist in diagnosing and resolving this issue.
