Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1014146.1 : L180/L700 - Unable to set a Hard Port address of 000 using the Drive Menu
PreviouslyPublishedAs 220470 Applies to:Sun StorageTek L180 Tape Library - Version Not Applicable and laterSun StorageTek L700 Tape Library - Version Not Applicable and later All Platforms SymptomsUnable to set Hard port address to 000. Changes{CHANGE} CauseAdditional Information Engineering has no plans to write code to allow configuring the L700 as ALPA address 000. Engineering would have to write a field exceptional code for an account that would allow them to do that. This used to be an allowed address, then we started getting a lot of complaints from customers saying that using address 000 make it look like a fabric attach machine so engineering disallowed it. SolutionThe library will not accept 000 as hard address for a drive. Address 001 is the minimum value it will accept. If you previously had a drive with a hard ALPA set with an address of 000, you will be forced to change it to a different hard alpa address. This may require involvement from the customer to change the address at the host. For direct fabric attachment (non-arbitrated loop attachment) enter 126 as the loop-id. If the Dynamic World Wide Name feature is required to be enabled at the library, it must be enabled through the CLI port. (Cannot be enabled through the panel)
