Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1013593.1 : SL8500 - False "Door Open" Problem - Library Components Rebooting
PreviouslyPublishedAs 219142 Oracle Confidential PARTNER - Available to partners (SUN). Reason: Confidential for Partners and Oracle Support personnel Applies to:Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System - Version Not Applicable and laterAll Platforms SymptomsDoor Open Changes{CHANGE} CauseThe StorageTek[TM] SL8500 modular library system door latch system can cause a false door open condition to be seen. The libraries mechanisms will reboot themselves if this occurs. Activity from the CAP area can bring out the problem. This is especially true if they are using the old single motor CAP which tends to give the CAP erratic motion and more vibration against the door. SolutionCheck door adjustment or intermittent door switch signal path. Refer to Document: 1017380.1 for door adjustment. If customer was using the CAP and the library mechanisms re-initialized on their own, you can suspect this problem. If you suspect this problem, do the following: 1. Look for door open/close events in the HBC event log. The door open and closed events are a type "warning" event not type "error". Note: If a door open event occurs using the service safety door it will be logged as a "CSE DOOR OPEN" event. 2. If you see these events and no one opened the door you are getting this problem.
Poor door adjustment can cause switch faults that create false door open messages. When this occurs, all power to the external mechanisms is lost.
Perform the following to correct the problem: 1. Check the door adjustment and make any needed adjustments. 2. Check all door switch connections starting at the Fast-on connectors at the switch all the way down to the HBZ push on connectors. 3. Vibrate the door to see if you can bring out the problem. 4. If the door adjustment looks good and it is still failing, consider swapping the switch itself and/or the harness components to the switch.
