Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1012657.1 : Sun Storage[TM] 2500 and 6000 RAID Arrays: Cannot Create or Change a Volume Mapping
PreviouslyPublishedAs 217409 Applies to:Sun Storage 2540-M2 Array - Version Not Applicable to Not Applicable [Release N/A]Sun Storage 2530-M2 Array - Version Not Applicable to Not Applicable [Release N/A] Sun Storage 6130 Array - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases] Sun Storage 6140 Array - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases] Sun Storage 6180 Array - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases] All Platforms SymptomsDuring a volume mapping to a host or host group, the management interface reports: Cannot create or change a volume-to-LUN mapping because either you have not enabled the Storage Domains feature or the storage array has reached its maximum number of allowable domains. Storage Domains is a Licensable Feature that must be specifically enabled through the user interface. If you have not previously obtained a Feature Key File for Storage Domains, contact your storage supplier.
CauseAs stated in the error, there are two reasons why the mapping operation could not complete:
In certain configurations, the following article may also apply: <Document 1544223.1> Unable to Map New Sun Storage 6000 or 2500-M2 Array Volumes to Hosts and/or Hosts Groups Because There is No Storage Domain License
Solution1.) Domain License Feature Not Enabled or InstalledCheck either the License Tab for your array in the Web Interface (CAM --> Storage systems --> "<array_name>" --> Administration --> Licensing ), or run: # sscs list -a <array_name> license StorageDomain
The Details page of the specific license in the Web Interface, or the output of the above 'sscs' command should show something similar to the following: # ./sscs list -a my_array license StorageDomain
Array: my_array WWN: 60:0A:01:23:45:67:89:AB:CD:EF:00:00:01:23:45:67 Serial Number: SN 0123456789 Feature Enable Identifier: 3xxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx License: StorageDomain Description: Enables the storage domains feature. Status: Disabled Quantity Licensed: 0 Quantity Used: 0 Licensed Items: If the Status is Disabled, you will need to enable the license by adding the Storage Domain license provided to you by your Hardware Vendor. If you do not know what the Key Digest and Version are for your license, please contact the Sun Licensing center for help regarding this license. At Sun Licensing Center, select Sun Storage 2500/6000 as the License Code and then fill in the required fields. 2.) Maximum Number of Domains ExceededSimilar to the above output, here is the another example listing Storage Domains information: # ./sscs list -a my_array license StorageDomain
Array: my_array WWN: 60:0A:01:23:45:67:89:AB:CD:EF:00:00:01:23:45:67 Serial Number: SN 0123456789 Feature Enable Identifier: 3xxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx License: StorageDomain Description: Enables the storage domains feature. Status: Enabled Quantity Licensed: 8 Quantity Used: 8 Licensed Items: Host: host_1 Host: host_2 Host: host_3 Host: host_4 Host: host_5 Host: host_6 Host: host_7 Host: host_8 If "Quantity Licensed" is equal to "Quantity Used", the array will not let you create any more Storage Domains. To create more storage domains, you will need to purchase a Storage Domain license upgrade. You can upgrade the number of Storage Domains based on the array type. Please contact the Sun Licensing center for help regarding this license. At Sun Licensing Center, select Sun Storage 2500/6000 as the License Code and then fill in the required fields.
