Symptoms

Incorrect boot path can cause forced-no-boot condition on a Sun Fire[TM] 12K/15K/E20K/E25K domain:

NOTICE: forced-no-boot: OBP has been requested by SC to not boot.
NOTICE: forced-no-boot: See log files on SC for more information.

Cause

Booting a domain with an incorrect boot path can caused a forced-no-boot error message to be displayed in the domain's console output.

Solution


Please check that the boot device is correct. If there boot device is setup in the devalias, check that the alias does not have embedded hidden/control characters. OBP will attempt to boot from the alias directed and upon finding no device and will output message as show below.
