Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1012156.1 : Systems connected to Sun StorEdge 3310 SCSI array may experience SCSI resets and errors when SSCS and sccli are run in-band at the same time
PreviouslyPublishedAs 216745 Applies to:Sun Storage 3310 Array - Version Not Applicable and laterAll Platforms SymptomsDuring the routine administration of the Sun StorEdge 3310 scsi array, errors are logged to the messages file of the server. For example, Oct 20 13:40:00 v4u-v240a scsi: [ID 107833 kern.warning] WARNING: /pci@1c,600000/scsi@2,1 (glm1):

The problem occurs when any administrative work is being performed on the array with the SSCS and sccli utilities. CauseThe problem can occur when both the SSCS GUI and the sccli utilitiy are both being used, in-band, at the same time. It is most often observed when the servers, on-board, LVD SCSI port (which uses the glm driver) is connecting the server and array. Solution
The easiest thing to do is to avoid using both utilities, in-band, at the same time. Instead of reaching the array through its in-band device path (such as /dev/rdsk/c1t3d0s2), you should connect out-of-band, to the IP address of the controller. In the following example, both in-band and out-of-band techniques are shown. # sccli -o --oob 192.168.1.1
sccli: selected se3000://192.168.1.1:58632 [SUN StorEdge 3310 SN#00008C] sccli> # sccli sccli: selected device /dev/rdsk/c1t3d0s2 [SUN StorEdge 3310 SN#00008C] sccli>
The problem may also be resolved by upgrading to a revision of firmware past 4.13B. The latest is 4.23C and may be downloaded via <Patch 9605219> Further discussion of the issue may be found in Alert <Document 1000296.1> For Sun StorEdge 3310, Running SSCS and sccli(1M) In-band at the same time may cause SCSI errors Attachments This solution has no attachment |
