Symptoms

 On Ultra[TM] 80 or Ultra[TM] 60, a defective audio module may cause bad behavior of keyboard.

Cause

 The cause of this issue has been identified as a faulty Audio Module

Solution

For example:

  • Press a key and it keeps displaying continuously, stopping only after typing other keys, while the keyboard illuminates all the LEDs.
  • In This example, the behavior remains the same even after replacing the keyboard.
  • It may also show the message: WARNING: kbd: Too many keys down! in the messages file.

This behavior was observed in systems with latest firmware - OBP 3.31.0 2001/07/25 20:31 POST 2.0.3 2000/07/31 15:28



Resolution

Please open an Oracle Service Request for verification of a need for an Audio Module and/or further diagnostics.
