All Platforms

Symptoms

A health check is run every 24 hours on the fans. Sometimes during this test
an incorrect fan speed is read leading to a fan being marked as faulty when it
is not.

Cause

 N/A

Solution

A message is displayed on the console, indicating that a fan has faulted:

"ENCLOSURE_FAN @ FT1.F0.RS has FAULTED."
OR
"ENCLOSURE_FAN @ FT2.F0.RS has FAULTED."

This message is incorrect as the fan is not faulty, it is just the fan speed
reading that was wrong.

Resolution
This problem has been fixed in Sun Advanced Lights Out Manager (ALOM) 1.5.

To check the ALOM version run the following command.

/usr/platform/SUNW,Sun-Fire-V250/sbin/scadm version

The ALOM 1.5. software and documentation can be downloaded from Sun Download Center
