Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1006302.1 : Sun Fire[TM] 12K/15K/E20K/E25K: Domain not Booting: "Domain failed by hpost: ecode=36"
PreviouslyPublishedAs 208841 Applies to:Sun Fire 12K Server - Version All Versions and laterSun Fire 15K Server - Version All Versions and later Sun Fire E20K Server - Version All Versions and later Sun Fire E25K Server - Version All Versions and later Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit) SymptomsThe domain is not booting and displays the following message at the end of the POST output: Exitcode = 36: Non-configuration special hpost mode successful
POST (level=32, verbose=40) execution time 6:27 [5304] Domain failed by hpost: ecode=36 Resetting and deconfiguring: CPU at SB16 Resetting and deconfiguring: HPCI at IO16 Resetting and deconfiguring: EXB at EX16 ChangesWhen running hPOST to check a single SB, a new domain is created and two flags are added to the .postrc file: no_ioadapt_ok <= only SB will be tested
no_obp_handoff <= control won't be sent to OBP after finishing POST CauseWhen you later attempt to boot the domain, these flags set in the .postrc file will cause the boot to fail. The keyswitch mode reverts to "standby". SolutionThe solution is to remove both lines from the .postrc file. .postrc example
