Symptoms

ASC: 0x5d (drive operation marginal, service immediately (failure prediction threshold exceeded))

Cause

The SCSI disk error message

ASC: 0x5d (drive operation marginal, service immediately (failure prediction threshold exceeded))

means that the disk drive's internal electronics have detected that an error threshold has been reached.

Solution

Initial recomendation would be to replace the disk , but other troubleshooting strategies (not covered with this doc) should be used to triage and diagnose any problem at hand.

Start with document Document 1010946.1  General Guidance for Diagnosis and Replacing Internal Server Disks and JBOD Disks within Solaris
