Solution

Resolution
This is known problem with V240's running Solaris[TM]10 or 9 with a Bi-Directional modem configured on ttyb. May also occur with Solaris[TM] 8 07/03.

The problem is caused by a regression introduced with the fix for bug
4028137 - serial line hangs and gets "link down".
The problem will occur if the following patches are installed.
Solaris[TM]10 w/ 118557-04, 119574-02 and 118868-01
Solution- 1.) Install 118557-05 or above. 2.) Upgrade to s10u3_02.
Solaris[TM] 9 w/ 113077-17 and 123056-01
Solution- Install 113077-20 or above
Solaris[TM] 8 w/ 109793-28 or above.
Solution- Install 109793-31 or above
Alternate solution to the above.
Possible hung login process. Kill ttymon process. It will respawn a new ttymon process.

Relief/Workaround

Solaris[TM] 9:
Backout 113077-17 and 123056-01 then install 113077-16 or below only.
Solaris[TM] 8:
Backout 109793-28 to 109793-27 or below.

Additional Information
Problem may also appear with Sun Fire[TM] V210.

Setting ttyb-ignore-cd to false has no effect.
