Sun StorageTek SL3000 Modular Library System - Version Not Applicable to Not Applicable [Release N/A]
All Platforms
__________

Date of Resolved Release: 03-Oct-2008

Affected Parts

7054538 - HBK card for SL8500 (old p/n - 419945201)
7054610 - PUK card for SL3000 (old p/n - 419877201)

Symptoms

 There are two methods to detect that the HBK card has failed with code 3.72 (or higher)...

1. the Service Required LED will flash on the front of the library
2. an SNMP trap will be sent every 15 minutes if enabled

Below is an example of the error message posted in the library logs every 15 minutes.

2013-04-09T14:53:02.122, 1.0.0.0.0, root, default, internal, 0, error, 3274, "HBK Module:Secure key grace period active. 29 days left"

Example SNMP trap message;

SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.1.3.0 = 208127
SNMPv2-SMI::snmpModules.1.1.4.1.0 = STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapError
STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapLibrarySerialNumber = ""
STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceId = "HBC  660000005"
STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceTime = "2007-06-21T17:09:58.084"
STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceAddress = "1.0.0.0.0"
STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceUserName = "root"
STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceInterfaceName = "default"
STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceActivity = "syslogd"
STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceRequestId = "0"
STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceSeverity = "error"
STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceResultCode = "<N/A>"
STREAMLINE-TAPE-LIBRARY-MIB::slTrapDeviceFreeFormText = "<10>root: Secure Key (HBK) failed - 29 day(s), 22 hour(s) until shutdown"

Impact

At all firmware versions of the SL3000 and at SL8500 firmware level 3.72 (or higher) follow the procedure noted below to order the HBK and PUK card.

In the unlikely event the HBK card fails, the library will continue to operate for 30 days.  During this time the new card can be ordered from logistics, Library Serial Number will be required to program the HBK and PUK card.

If the SL8500 is at 3.11c (or lower) Firmware the HBK card will need to be ordered via the Code A process.  The unit Serial Number will also be required for the processing of the replacement HBK card at these code levels.

Changes

Contributing Factors

SL8500 (with firmware levels at 3.72 (or higher) requiring an HBK card replacement, or an SL3000 (at any firmware level) requiring a PUK card replacement, follow the ordering procedure listed in this knowledge asset.

Cause

Unprogrammed HBK and PUK cards from stock can not be successfully installed in the SL8500 or SL3000.  The Frame serial number and associated DWWN must be on preprogrammed the HBK and PUK cards to support the DWWN feature.

Solution

Corrective Action

Workaround:

No workaround available - see Resolution section below.

Resolution:

Order preprogramed HBK or PUK card per the below ordering process.

Procedure to order Programmed Replacement HBK card for SL8500 or the PUK card for SL3000

The Domain Engineer who owns the SR then needs to take the following steps:

1. Record the SL8500 or SL3000 serial number (this is needed to program the replacement card).

2. Create a task for the part order and onsite work, use the Preferred Delivery option of Specific Date / Time, setting it to 7 working days
    from when the task is created.

3. The task needs to contain the following text so that the part is NOT actually ordered:

  • List P/N 7054538 (for SL8500), or P/N 7054610 (for SL3000) and quantity needed.
  • Note that these cards are being configured at Flextronics, specifically for each customer. There will be no other supply in the network.
  • Please raise the order, which will go in to back order status. No need for any further sourcing activity at this point.

4. Send Email to the appropriate Flextronics alias as per below:

  • For SL8500 requests for a programmed HBK from the NAMER, LAD or JAPAC Regions send an email to: USRALSUNCodeAShips@flextronics.com
  • For SL8500 requests for a programmed HBK from the EMEA Regions send an email to: HUBHUCFTStorageTek@hu.flextronics.com
  • For SL3000 requests for a programmed PUK for all Regions send an email to: USRALSUNCodeAShips@flextronics.com

     Include the following information in the email:

  1.    Library Serial Number
  2.    Ship To information: address, contact name and contact phone number
  3.    SR number
  4.    Task number
  5.    Copy james.hidy@oracle.com

     Note: Africa and the Middle East roll up under EMEA

5. Send an Email to Regional Backorder team (RBOT) (depending on library location)

emea_backorders_grp <emea_backorders_grp@oracle.com>
japac_backorders_grp <japac_backorders_grp@oracle.com>
amer-backorder-grp_cr amer-backorder-grp_cr@oracle.com

Content as per below (filling in the SR and Task numbers in the Subject line:

---

To: Regional BOT
Subject: DO NOT SOURCE RLM / PUK / HBK Cards / SR=?? / Task =??

Dear BOT,

Configured RLM / PUK / HBK Cards – do not source

Regards,
Domain

---

It is expected that the end to end process, from requesting the part to delivery, will take 7 working days.
However, this could be longer if the library is at a more remote location.

Serial Number Verification:

After installing the new pre-programmed HBK/PUK verify the programmed serial number within 5 minutes of installation & initialization. After 5 minutes the serial number will be mirrored in the memory of the HBC card and thus resetting the original configuration files associated with the original serial number. If a mis-match is noted power down, de-install the new PUK/HBK, and order a new card.

Run the following Cli command to verify serial number programmed on HBK/PUK card; "prom print".

Example:

SL8500> prom print
HBK/idcard contents:
   Serial number = 516000200486
   Wwn base num = 50:01:04:F0:00:A1:FF:94
COMPLETED
