Product
Sun StorageTek L8500 Tape Library

Date of Resolved Release: 15-Apr-2008

The new HandBot requires a minimum level of Library code (see details below).

Affected Parts

419642605   HandBot

Impact

The new HandBot at 419642605 requires a minimum level of Library code of FRS_3.97 to support the new line scanner.  It will fail initialization with down level Library code at 3.77 or lower.

Contributing Factors

The original Handbot scanner at Rev_Lvl 1022 is no longer available from the manufacturer and this necessitated the change to the new scanner at Rev_Lvl EV15.

Symptoms

HandBot initialization will fail at three pack array with result code 5635 and operational state 512.

Reference failures if 419642605 is installed in libraries running below 3.9x will fail at the 3-pack array.

Root Cause

The original scanner Rev_Lvl 1022 has been obsoleted.  HandBot at part number 419642605 started shipping in March of 2008.
