Impact

This document is intended to assist Field Engineers on the correct technical reasons to troubleshoot, replace, and correctly seat Panther CPU/Memory boards so Benchmark will see a decrease in future NTF's (No Trouble Found).


Root Cause

Panther CPU/Memory Boards are being found NTF at Benchmark and are, therefore, being replaced unnecessarily.


Workaround

Panther 1500MHz CPU/Memory boards don't support Solaris 8.

Also make sure when upgrading to Panther (from Jaguar) you have the correct OBP (4.18.1 or greater) or you will see POST errors similar to the following:
