Sun Fire[tm] X4600 Server: Repair Procedures

This section provides tips (when available) for the most common repair procedures for the Sun Fire X4600. The repair procedures are provided in the following manual:

Component Tips
CPU's
  • A limited number of AMD Opteron CPUs in X4100, X4200, X4500 and X4600 systems can cause unexpectedly system shut down without warning or trace evidence. (FAB 1017422.1).
Ethernet
  • Small number of Northstar Dual GBE -03 cards may fail on certain systems due to defective voltage mux. (FAB 1000525.1).
Power Redundancy
  • Sun Fire X4600 Rev E 3+1 Power Redundancy conversion to 2+2 power. (FAB 1000656.1).
