1. RDIMMs (Registered DIMMs) and LRDIMMs (Load-Reduced DIMMs) cannot be mixed on X3 and X4 platforms.

Sun Blade X4-2B Memory Installation Notes

1. Memory filler panel 350-1288 is optional.
2. Install DIMMs in the blue slots first.
3. Install DIMMs in the white slots second.
4. Install DIMMs in the black slots third.
5. Each CPU supports one, two, three, or four DIMMs per socket color.
6. CPU0 and CPU1 require identical memory configurations.
7. Install the highest capacity DIMMs in the blue sockets, then white, then black.
8. Refer to the service manual for additional memory configuration information.

Sun Server X4-2 Memory Installation Notes

1. DIMM filler panels are not required in sockets that do not have DIMMs installed.
2. All CPU1 DIMM sockets must remain empty in single CPU systems.
3. Install DIMMs in the blue slots first in slots D0, D2, D5, and D7.
4. Then install DIMMs in the white sockets in slots D1, D3, D4, and D6.
5. Install the highest capacity DIMMs first. Install the highest rank DIMMs first.
6. When Dual Rank and Quad Rank DIMMs are installed in the same channel,
   install the Quad Rank DIMMs in the slots farthest from the CPU.

Sun Server X4-2L Memory Installation Notes

1. Install DIMM filler panel 350-1288 in P1 Slot D7 in single CPU systems.
2. Install DIMM filler panel 350-1288 in all empty DIMM sockets in Dual-CPU systems.
3. Install DIMMs in the blue slots first in slots D0, D2, D5, and D7.
4. Then install DIMMs in the white sockets in slots D1, D3, D4, and D6
5. Install the highest capacity DIMMs first. Install the highest rank DIMMs first.
6. When Dual Rank and Quad Rank DIMMs are installed in the same channel,
   install the Quad Rank DIMMs in the slots farthest from the CPU.
