Notes

1. RDIMMs (Registered DIMMs) and LRDIMMs (Load-Reduced DIMMs) cannot be mixed on X3 and X4 platforms.

Option Notes

1. Option 7100792 with DIMM 7038750 was used in the Sun Server X3-2 and X3-2L.
2. Option 7100792 was changed from DIMM 7038750 to 7053841 after the last order date of the Sun Server X3-2 and X3-2L in February 2014.
3. Option 7100792 with DIMM 7053841 is not used in the Sun Server X3-2 and X3-2L.

Sun Blade X6270 M3 / Sun Blade X3-2B / Sun Blade X4-2B Memory Installation Notes

1. Installation of memory filler panel 350-1288 is optional and not required for cooling.
2. Install DIMMs in the blue slots first.
3. Install DIMMs in the white slots second.
4. Install DIMMs in the black slots third.
5. Each CPU supports one, two, three, or four DIMMs per socket color.
6. CPU0 and CPU1 require identical memory configurations.
7. Install the highest capacity DIMMs in the blue sockets, then white, then black.
8. Refer to the service manual for additional memory configuration information.

Sun Fire X4170 M3 / Sun Server X3-2 / Sun Server X4-2 Memory Installation Notes

1. DIMM filler panels are not required in sockets that do not have DIMMs installed.
2. All CPU1 DIMM sockets must remain empty in single CPU systems.
3. Install DIMMs in the Blue slots first in slots D0, D2, D5, and D7.
4. Then install DIMMs in the White sockets in slots D1, D3, D4, and D6.
5. Install the highest capacity DIMMs first. Install the highest rank DIMMs first.
6. When Dual Rank and Quad Rank DIMMs are installed in the same channel,
   install the Quad Rank DIMMs in the slots farthest from the CPU.

Sun Fire X4270 M3 / Sun Server X3-2L / Sun Server X4-2L Memory Installation Notes

1. Install DIMM filler panel 350-1288 in P1 Slot D7 in single CPU systems.
2. Install DIMM filler panel 350-1288 in all empty DIMM sockets in Dual-CPU systems.
3. Install DIMMs in the Blue slots first in slots D0, D2, D5, and D7.
4. Then install DIMMs in the White sockets in slots D1, D3, D4, and D6.
5. Install the highest capacity DIMMs first. Install the highest rank DIMMs first.
6. When Dual Rank and Quad Rank DIMMs are installed in the same channel,
   install the Quad Rank DIMMs in the slots farthest from the CPU.

Exadata X2-2 and Exalogic Elastic Cloud X2-2 Notes

1. 16GB DIMM 7018701 is available as an upgrade to the X4170 M2 compute node.
2. 16GB DIMM 7018701 is Not available for standalone X4170 M2 servers.
3. Do not install DIMMs in slots next to an empty CPU socket.
4. The minimum configuration is one DIMM per CPU.
5. DIMM speed is limited by the CPU QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) speed.
6. Install DIMMs D8/D5/D2 then DIMMs D7/D4/D1 then DIMMs D6/D3/D0.
7. Use of the same DIMM size and speed is recommended for maximum performance.
